RockChat:AI has no accounts and no servers of ours. We do not collect, store or sell anything about you. What you say and what your rock remembers stay on your device.
What stays on your device
- Your conversations with the rock, its name for you, and the notes it keeps about you.
- Your settings, your prompts, your colors and voices, and what you have bought.
- Any API key you type in. It is kept in the Keychain on your device and is never sent to us.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. Settings › MEMORY can also erase what the rock knows about you.
What the app asks to use, and why
- Microphone and speech recognition: so you can talk to the rock. Recognition runs on your device.
- Camera: to read text you point it at, and to show the rock on your table in AR.
- Location: to read the weather and the name of your Wi-Fi network when you ask.
- Calendar: to check your schedule, or to add an event or reminder after you confirm it.
- Contacts: to find the person when you ask the rock to draft a message to them.
- Local network: to talk to an AI model on your own computer, only if you connect one.
- Notifications: for the rock's optional messages.
You can turn any of these off in iOS Settings. The app works without them; the matching feature is what stops.
What leaves your device
None of it comes to us. These are the only times your device contacts anyone:
- The first time you open the app it downloads the AI model, and later any model you choose to add, from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). They see an ordinary web request, like any download.
- When you ask for the weather, your approximate location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service.
- When you paste a web link, the app fetches that page so the rock can read it.
- Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details.
- Rock Plus only: if you connect an outside AI model, your messages and what the rock remembers about you are sent to the provider you choose (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or a program on your own computer) using your own key. That provider's privacy policy applies to what it receives. While no outside model is connected, none of this happens.
Age check
The app is for people 18 and older. At the first launch it asks Apple for your age range (Apple's Declared Age Range service, which a parent can control through Family Sharing) and otherwise asks you to confirm in words. We keep only the fact that you confirmed. We do not receive or store your age or your birthday.
What we do not do
No ads. No tracking. No analytics. No advertising ID. No selling or sharing of data. No accounts.
The AI can be wrong
The rock's replies are written by an AI model and can be inaccurate or odd. Do not rely on them for medical, legal or financial decisions.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we collect no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes we will post the new version here and change the date above.
